ABSTRACT
Eustacy and land subsidence produce a continuous relative sea level rise (RSLR) along
the Northern Adriatic coastland. RSLR seriously jeopardize the historical centre of
Venice and its lagoon. Land subsidence is due to natural processes and anthropogenic
activities and has been monitored since the end of the nineteenth century.
