Research projects at Oxford in solid phase transformations
A review of research projects at Oxford on solid phase transformations was
given. The topics covered were:
- 1.
- Energy-well problems arising from elasticity theory models of
martensitic transformations.
- 2.
- Related theoretical work in the calculus of variations,
especially
concerning quasiconvexity and Young measures.
- 3.
- Surface relaxation treated via higher gradient models.
- 4.
- Dynamics, metastability and hysteresis.
The aim was to highlight potential opportunities for collaboration within
the network.
