Title: Phase Transitions in Crystalline Solids
Contract Number: FMRX-CT98-0229 (DG12-BDCN)
Research Subject: Experimental and theoretical modelling of shape memory alloys behavior
- Tension (compression) + torsion + Internal Pressure on Ti Ni tubes - Compression or tension (3D) on cubes (Cu Al Be).
- Biaxial tension on single crystal Cu Zn Al plates.
- Bulging and nanoindentation on Ni Ti thin films.
Thermodynamics of isotropic pseudoelasticity in shape memory alloys (macroscopic and micro-macro approach). Implementation of thermomechanical behavior laws in a finite element code for structure calculations (thin films - bending). Study of adaptative structures and smart materials. Command-control of SMA actuators.
Job Description: · Implementation of shape memory alloy behavior law (pseudoelastic - pseudoplastic...) on CASTEM 2000 for PC, for finite transformation : thin shell applications.
· Numerical validation of experiments for proportional loading.
· Application for bending beam - bulging plates.
· Extension to some hybrid structure (elastical classical material + non linear SMA).
· Thermomechanical coupling, numerical approach : local temperature effect.
12 (twelve) months post-doc fellowship with an allowance of 1800ECU/month (free of charge) is offered. Potential candidates should be citizens of any country of the European Union (except France) and of the Associated States, and must be not more than 35 years of age at the moment of the beginning of the post-doc fellowship (except for compulsory military service or child care).
The candidates must possess a PhD or equivalent title.
The applications should be sent together with a curriculum vitae and a letter of motivation.
Qualification of the candidate: · Knowledge of Finite Element calculations: theory and practice.
· Geometrical non linearity and behavior non linearity.
· Numerical techniques of resolution.
· Language: English; knowledge of basic French appreciated.
Duration: Twelve months
